The most highly recommended book I’ve ever seen

I saw The Night Circus, by Erin Morgenstern, on the Staff Picks shelf at work and decided to look it up on Goodreads. I wasn’t really intrigued by the description, but as I started scrolling down through my friends’ reviews, it started to look a little more interesting.

Friend #1:  4 stars

Friend #2:  5 stars

Friend #3:  3 stars

Coworker #1:  5 stars

“I wanted this book to go on forever. Wonderful, beautifully written. I listened to the audio and am going back to read the print version.”

Coworker #2:  5 stars

“You cannot read this book quickly. You want to luxuriate in it. A mesmeric experience.”

Coworker #3:  5 stars

Coworker #4:  5 stars

Coworker #5:  5 stars

Coworker #6 (who rarely rates higher than two stars, even if she liked it):  5 stars

Comment from Coworker #7: “SO GOOOOOOOOOOD. I have re-read it like three times.”

Coworker #7:  5 stars

Friend #4:  5 stars

Friend #5:  5 stars

Friend #6:  5 stars

Friend #7:  5 stars

Friend #8:  3 stars

And, as a special bonus, the single most ridiculous person I have ever met rated it TWO STARS! All I know in the world right now is that I must read this book immediately.

[Update: It’s narrated by Jim Dale. I didn’t think there was a way this could get better, and I was wrong.]
